Blog Milestones & Reviews

So I now have 75 blog friends. Much thanks for all the love, people. And speaking of love . . .the latest issue of Realms of Fantasy has received a very favorable review over at tangentonline, including the tale from this issue's slush survivor, A.C. Wise, for "Robin of the Green." Feel free to read the reviews: http://www.tangentonline.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=741&Itemid=260

Also, if anyone comes across other reviews for RoF, feel free to post them here! I'd love to read them!

First Drafts, Rewrites, and Interviews

Well, I'm happy to announce that I just finished a rough first draft to "Hiding in the Good Places," a supernatural horror piece. It clocks in at slightly over 16,000 words. I just sent it along to my critique group and I'm looking forward to their comments next week (and how funny I should mention that, given one of our recent threads). I love that feeling of finishing a first draft of a story. You get to bask in the glow of accomplishment before reality sets in and you realize how much work you still have to do on the piece. But I'll worry about after next week's bloodbath. Now I have three rewrites waiting for me. That should keep me busy while I give some thought to my next new story, which will probably be another monster.

On a completely unrelated note, my esteemed colleague, the Slush God, recently conducted an interview with Karen Abrahamson for his blog. Karen wrote "Lady of Ashuelot," the first piece of slush I ever plucked from the piles. The story was published in RoF's April 2006 issue, and Karen discusses the story in question, along with other aspects of the writerly life.
