I've just learned that Jack Williamson has passed away. It's been a tough year for the speculative community. Octavia E. Butler . . .David Gemmell . . .Charles Grant . . .and now this. I've never read Williamson's work, but I respect and admire what he represented, i.e. one of the authors who helped modernize our genre with his prolific talents. Williamson was a contemporary of Heinlein, Asimov, Clarke, etc. Alas, there are very few of these sorts still with us. His contributions to speculative literature are immeasurable. Thanks, Jack.
